Simply put, it’s the key to moving forward in life. If you want to succeed and achieve your goals—whether that’s passing an exam, losing weight, building confidence, finding a husband, or starting your own business—you need a plan.

Clear steps and tasks that, when followed consistently, will bring you closer to your dreams. And productivity is what allows you to organize your time effectively, making sure that you stay on track and accomplish what you set out to do!

By stepping back and seeing the bigger picture, you can easily identify where your time is going and find opportunities to fit in essential tasks like work, exercise, cooking, and other commitments.

For example, you might discover that you have a consistent 2-3 hour window in the evening after work. This could be the perfect time for meal prep or household chores.

Personally, I use this time to either: study a language, meal prep and my blog. Knowing that this time is available allows me to plan ahead, so I don’t need to scramble to fit it in last minute. So I literally put the tasks I need to do in my calendar to block this time window.

Be Productive During Lunch Breaks

I think there are so many people that don’t realize how much can be done during the lunch break.

Instead of spending them with my colleagues at work on small-talks or mindlessly scrolling on my phone, I use that time to go to the gym.

This way, I incorporate exercise into my routine without lengthening my workday. When I return to my desk, I’m feeling refreshed and still able to finish work on time (and I am even more efficient!).

By strategically viewing your schedule in this way, you can boost productivity while maintaining balance in both your personal and professional life.

Having an overarching plan not only optimizes your time but also reduces stress since you’re no longer figuring out how to fit everything in as you go.

Instead, you have a clear structure that integrates all aspects of your life.

  1. Map out your week: Use a planner or digital calendar to outline your weekly schedule, noting fixed commitments like work hours and appointments. I personally use the calendar app on my phone and a journal.
  2. Identify free time blocks: Look for consistent gaps in your schedule where you can dedicate time to important tasks or self-care activities. Those are precious! Use them wisely.
  3. Time-block your schedule: Assign specific tasks to these time blocks, so to ensure that the most important activities like exercise, meal prep, and personal projects are accounted for.
  4. Wake up 20 min earlier every day: This will give you more time during the most important time of the day. We are usually the most productive in the morning, so I encourage you to take advantage of that.
  5. Stay flexible: While having a plan is important, don’t stress if something doesn’t work out. Allow some flexibility for unexpected events or changes in your routine.

This might sound surprising. Self care tip when talking about productivity? Shouldn’t you be stressing over your plan to make sure all is done?

No, absolutely not. I’ve talked about it in my previous posts about slow-living and romanticizing your life, especially as a woman!

I have tried to be so productive, that I felt almost like I had a burnout. This is not the good way of living.

Instead, be mindful that your body is your temple, and to function at its best, you need to fuel it with the right kind of energy, to be productive.

Just like a car runs more smoothly on high-quality fuel, your body performs better when nourished with whole foods, vegetables, and healthy fats.

Prioritizing nutrition is a key element in maintaining long-term productivity and overall well-being.

Eat Whole Foods To Be Productive

Opting for natural, nutrient-dense foods over processed alternatives provides steady energy throughout the day, supports cognitive function, and helps you feel strong and energized.

For example, I start my day with a nutrient-packed breakfast: oatmeal topped with superfoods like goji berries, acai powder, organic berries, soy milk, nuts, chia seeds, and organic cocoa nibs.

This combination delivers antioxidants, fiber, and healthy fats, setting the tone for a productive morning.

I know you are probably thinking that healthy food is boring or cooking is time-consuming. But this is absolutely not the case! You can find super easy recipes that are healthy and affordable.

As mid-morning approaches, I reach for a light snack, such as a piece of fruit or a raw, healthy bar, to maintain my energy levels.

The idea is that being healthy and properly nourishing your body makes you more productive. You think clearer, you have more energy and you perform better.

A helpful tip is to replace regular coffee with matcha when possible. Matcha provides a more stable energy boost without the jitteriness or crash that caffeine often brings. Its high antioxidant content not only supports overall health but also promotes sustained mental clarity and physical stamina.

Writing your to-do list down is one of the simplest yet most effective productivity strategies.

I would never be able to live my day, with having all my tasks in my head. It would consume so much energy, that I would most certainly be tired and forget something.

So writing a to-do list clears up mental space and reduces overwhelm.

I personally like to do it in a very old-school way: write it on a piece of paper. I’ve tried digital notes; however, the process of physically crossing tasks out on paper works best for me. Find your way!

One of the most motivating aspects of having a to-do list is the satisfaction of crossing off completed tasks.

Each time you mark something as done, it gives you a sense of achievement that propels you forward.

Personally, I break my list into multiple categories, which helps me keep different aspects of my life in balance.

For example, I have categories for “Today’s To-Dos,” “Business,” “Health & Beauty,” and “Finances.” This way, I can prioritize what needs to be done immediately while also keeping track of longer-term goals.

I also would recommend writing the to-do list on your phone. Having your list on your phone means you can access it anytime and make adjustments on the go.

Ah, social media can be one of the biggest drains on your energy and productivity!

When you mindlessly scroll through platforms like Instagram or TikTok, you’re using up precious dopamine that could be better spent on real-life goals.

Instead of getting a spike of dopamine due to an accomplishment, from checking off a task or making progress on something meaningful, you end up caught in a loop of emotional reactions to things that often aren’t even real or relevant to your own life!

I used to love scrolling through Instagram, checking out what other girls and influencers were doing—what they were eating, wearing, and thinking. But in the process, I completely neglected my own life. I was spending so much time living through other people’s experiences that I wasn’t giving my own journey the attention it deserved.

Manage Your Time Spent On Social Media

That’s when I decided to become more mindful of my social media use.

I did a complete cleanse of who I was following. Some accounts I had been keeping up with didn’t inspire me; instead, they left me feeling down or comparing myself to others.

So, I unfollowed those accounts or muted their posts. This small step made a big difference. I started to feel better knowing that when I do go on social media, I’m only seeing content that uplifts, educates, or genuinely inspires me.

Now, instead of mindlessly scrolling for hours, limit your social media time and use it more intentionally.

Engage with content that aligns with your goals or adds something positive to your day!

Nature has a calming, refreshing effect that helps clear your mind and recharge your mental energy, giving you the motivation and inspiration to keep going.

Think about it—haven’t you noticed that after hours of sitting at your desk, even just a short walk outside, whether it’s for half an hour or just 10 minutes, can make a world of difference? It’s like hitting a reset button.

You come back to your work with fresh eyes and renewed focus, often with new ideas or a better approach to the task at hand.

So if you find yourself stuck or losing momentum, step outside. A walk in the park, a moment of grounding in your backyard, or even just sitting on a bench and soaking in the sunlight can help you regain focus and approach your tasks with a clearer, more energized mindset.

Surprising, right? What it means is that the majority of your success or progress in any area comes from a small portion of the total time and energy you put in. Essentially, not all tasks are created equal when it comes to achieving your goals.

Let’s take an example: Imagine you want your home to look clean and organized, and you have six hours to tidy up. You could spend the first 2-3 hours meticulously organizing your bookshelf—lining up every book perfectly and arranging your décor pieces just so. When you’re done, the bookshelf looks impeccable.

But when you step back and look at your home, it’s still cluttered, and nothing seems much cleaner overall. The task you spent so much time on had little impact on your overall goal.

Now, if you had prioritized more impactful tasks—like deep-cleaning the floors, decluttering surfaces, and putting away visible items—the house would look much cleaner, even if the bookshelf remained dusty or disorganized. By focusing on the right tasks, you’d get a much bigger result in less time.

The same principle applies to any area of your life. If you’re working on improving your appearance, you could spend hours making sure your nails are flawless, but it might be more effective to focus on a bigger-picture: health habits like maintaining a healthy weight or fitness routine.

Now, let me share with you a key secret behind why millionaires are so successful. After all, they also have 24 hours within the day, right?

It is the deep work. If you’re unfamiliar with the term, don’t worry—I wasn’t either at first. But now, you’re about to discover one of the most powerful strategies that super successful people use to reach their goals.

So, what exactly is deep work? It’s simply focused, uninterrupted time where you’re operating at your highest level of productivity.

Successful people schedule blocks of time during their day to tackle the most critical tasks—those that directly contribute to their goals.

Think back to the Pareto principle I mentioned earlier: deep work is where you apply this. You focus on the 20% of activities that generate 80% of the results.

Here’s the key: how you approach deep work matters. Millionaires, for instance, cut out all distractions. They turn off their phones, shut themselves in a room, and completely focus on the task at hand.

No Instagram scrolling, no constant coffee breaks—just pure focus. Why? Because every distraction costs you precious time.
