Sharing is caring!

As the crisp air of fall rolls in, it’s the perfect time to refresh your wardrobe with stylish pieces that keep you warm and chic. Do you want to look rich, chic & feminine, but are you on a budget? I have some secret ideas, that will help you look elevated, without necessary spending more.

You see, Ladies, it’s all about choosing the right pieces, selecting the right colors, and knowing how to style them. For example, did you know that by sticking to a neutral color palette, an outfit immediately looks more expensive? Compare these two outfits:

Can you see the difference? Or, for instance, compare the ripped jeans with the tailored trousers. Which one looks more elevated, expensive, and elegant?

1. Skirts & Matching Tights

If you have ankle boots, one tip I recommend is to match your tights with the color of your boots. This creates a seamless look that elongates your legs and makes your whole outfit appear more elegant.

I also find it super sexy and feminine, to wear for example black tights in autumn. My grandma was always saying: “Suggest, without revealing …” 😉

For example, if your ankle boots are black, go for black tights—preferably thicker ones, not the super sheer ones that show your skin. Thicker tights not only look better but also keep you warmer! If your boots are beige, choose tights in a similar shade. Personally, I think nothing looks more feminine and stylish than black tights paired with a cute skirt.

2. Belted Blazers

Another one of my favorite pieces for fall is a belted blazer because they are feminine and accentuate the waist. Regardless of your body shape, you can cinch that waist in, even if you feel like you don’t really have one. What I also like about the blazer is that you can layer underneath it. You can wear a thin cashmere turtleneck, for example, and create that elegant, old-money look.

You can also wear a one-size-bigger blazer that gives you more room and feels really comfortable. I think adding that belt and really cinching in—even with the most oversized blazer you can find—will look stylish and feminine. Adding a belt and cinching the waist creates a flattering silhouette. The reason I say this is because the belt adds femininity to the blazer, which is naturally a more masculine piece. And I prefer femininity on this blog.

3. Long Sleeve Blouse

By the way, wouldn’t it be convenient to have a set formula of outfits that you can wear every time and know they’ll always work? One of those items for me is the long-sleeve blouse, which I love wearing all year round. Of course, in really deep winter, it might be a bit cold, but with the right layering, we can still make it work for fall!

These blouses are perfect and so easy to style. You can pair them with skirts, pants, and have endless variations. For example, wearing them with beautiful white trousers makes you look chic and interesting. And the best part is, you can find these blouses at any price point, ladies, so make sure you add them to your wish list!

4. Trench Coat

A fall fashion post could never be complete without mentioning the trench coat. Ladies, the trench coat is an absolute must in every transitional fall wardrobe. You should invest in a classic trench coat, and while you can choose the color that suits you, if you’re aiming for an elegant, expensive look, neutral colors should be your go-to.

You can opt for something more classic, like camel, navy, or black, or you can spice it up with a lighter shade that always looks truly sophisticated. There are so many variations, but make sure the trench coat is on your radar this season because it will definitely elevate your style this fall.

5. Long Sleeve Sweater Dresses

Guess what one of my absolute favorite go-to outfits is for fall and winter? Well, you’re seeing me in it right now – long sleeve sweater dresses. Oh, I absolutely love them!

They’re my favorite because they’re elegant, easy to style, feminine, and they just get the job done. All you have to do is stock up on tons of variations in different styles, cuts, colors, and prints, and you’ll always have something to wear.

A cousin to the shirt dress is the blazer and skirt combo. I know Dior popularized this look back in the day, and in modern times, Self-Portrait has made it a strong trend. A major fan of this look is Kate Middleton, who has worn the blazer and skirt combo on many occasions.

It’s a beautiful, versatile outfit that works exceptionally well for fall, ladies. You don’t have to overthink it – just like wearing a dress, but with a stylish variation. It has long sleeves to keep you warm, and you can switch up the skirt style. You don’t have to go with an A-line skirt; you can pair the blazer with a pencil skirt or, if you’re younger, a mini skirt. Just make sure to wear tights, because it might get cold otherwise!

6. Boots

I know what the concern is when fall arrives: What am I going to do with my feet? And when we’re wearing lots of dresses and skirts in winter, we definitely have to think about the right footwear. Let’s talk about boots. You really need to invest in boots of various shapes, sizes, and styles. Don’t feel overwhelmed, and this isn’t about being wasteful—that’s not the point. The point is to find the right boots that work with the majority of your outfits.

If you’re going to be wearing dresses and skirts, I highly recommend boots that are at least knee-high. Ideally, the boots should be hidden under your skirt line, which is why I’m not a big fan of ankle boots—they tend to cut off the leg. Be cautious with flat boots; they should have at least a small heel, whether it’s a kitten heel or a block heel. Some heel is a must to give a slight elevation to your look, making it pair nicely with the skirt line.

And voilà, ladies! You can wear these boots with all your skirts, dresses, and more as the temperature drops, and it’s going to look really polished and stylish!

7. Elegant Scarf

What do we need in our wardrobe for fall? Well, definitely a scarf. But I’m not about to promote the typical, neatly tied elegant scarf around the neck. I think we can do something a bit more exciting than that! Personally, I’m a huge fan of the casual long scarf, just thrown around the neck. I love how it draws attention vertically and adds a nice layering effect to the overall look.

I’m not against tying your scarf in a fancy way, but sometimes that can come off a little stuffy. I find that a more casual, relaxed scarf style can be just as elegant and chic, without feeling like you’re trying too hard. You see what I mean? That said, I’m not against putting in effort either! In fact, my next point is all about that, because fall and winter are the perfect seasons to really embrace tailored garments and go all in with our outfits.

8. Business Attire

You know those blazers, tailored trousers, and skirts—the kind of office and business wear that gets too hot to wear in summer? Well, fall is the perfect time to bring them out! Nothing makes someone look more expensive than when they appear smart and professional, and business attire is perfect for that. Even if you don’t work in an office, you can still wear these pieces. Dress like a CEO, even if you’re not a CEO. Anyone can pull off this look, and I think you should wear it with pride!

If you feel uncomfortable or like it doesn’t suit you head-to-toe, no problem! You can incorporate certain elements into your everyday style. For example, instead of always reaching for jeans, opt for tailored trousers as your go-to. Or swap your sweater or hoodie for a chic blazer.

Business attire comes at all price points, and you can easily find affordable pieces from various brands that still make you look elevated. Even a simple trouser, blazer, or shirt can take your look to the next level without breaking the bank.

9. Gilets.

You know what I love about fall? One word: gilets. Gilets are amazing because they always give off that high-fashion vibe. The reason they don’t get as much attention is that most people don’t bother buying or styling them—they can be a bit confusing and overwhelming if you’re not advanced in styling. If you’re unsure how to pull the look together, it can feel tricky. Plus, some people think gilets aren’t practical enough since they’re not quite a jacket and may not keep you warm.

However, there are ways to make them work! You can layer them with all kinds of pieces underneath to keep warm. Gilets are perfect for transitional weather, so now is the ideal time to wear them. Invest in a good one, and for styling, you can follow the same advice I gave for blazers—just add a belt, cinch the waist, and you’re good to go!

As fall is around the corner, remember that looking elegant and polished doesn’t have to be complicated or expensive. By investing in key wardrobe pieces, opting for neutral color palettes, and experimenting with stylish layers, you can effortlessly elevate your outfits this season.
