Everyone around me is talking about fillers, Botox and facelifts. And that’s absolutely fine. I’m not here to judge anyone.
But personally, I want to age in a way that keeps my own skin working for me, not replace it.
That’s why XERF caught my eye.
It’s a new radiofrequency device from Korea that is supposed to lift and tighten your face by stimulating your own collagen. No needles, no numbing cream, and I’m still breastfeeding, so that mattered a lot to me.
But here’s the thing: a promise on a clinic’s website is not proof.
So I’m documenting everything.

I had my first session at the beginning of October 2026, and I’ll take a before-and-after photo every week for about six months.
This is my honest review.
What is XERF?
XERF is a dual-frequency monopolar radiofrequency system that is supposed to reach deeper tissue for structural tightening.
It came out in Korea in 2024 and got a lot of hype online.
It heats the tissue under your skin, which makes your existing collagen contract and nudges your body to make more over the following months.
What makes it interesting is how it’s supposed to improve on older devices like Thermage:
No fat loss. Fat loss is a known concern with high-energy RF devices. One dermatologist that I follow explains that the machine itself doesn’t inherently cause it, but rather the improper parameters or too much energy that are used on areas with little baseline facial fat. So the person holding the device matters as much as the device. But still it is reassuring that XERF would tackle this concern.
Less pain. Clinics describe it as a warm, soothing sensation, with no numbing cream needed. (luciaclinic)
No downtime. You can go straight back to work, which is why some call it a “lunch lift.”

What the procedure looked like
First, I had to fill in a form.
Then the doctor and the assistant who performed the procedure explained the process and answered all my questions.
A short note on breastfeeding
I wasn’t really concerned about combining breastfeeding with this treatment.
My toddler was 14 months old at the time, and I didn’t see any risk to my milk supply, because it has always been great. Also, milk was no longer the primary nutrition.
I figured the only thing that could potentially happen was a slight, temporary decrease in supply, caused by the “fake injury” of heated tissue.
And even if that happened, my baby wouldn’t suffer, because it doesn’t need my milk that much anymore. I also had plenty of milk in the freezer, just in case.
But if my baby had been 2 or 3 months old, I wouldn’t have done this procedure. I wouldn’t want to risk depriving it of milk. This was my personal decision, so please talk to your own doctor.

The treatment itself
The assistant showed me the device and started setting the parameters for me.
She gave me 150 shots on the jawline and 100 shots on the mid face. She applied a gel and slowly glided the device from the middle of my face out towards the sides, towards my ears.
Was it painless? No.
Most of the time it felt like someone was holding a warm stone, or a warm cup of tea, against my skin. That was actually rather pleasant.
But about 20-30% of the time it was quite painful. A few times I even had to move a little, because my skin felt very hot.
Still, it was never unbearable. I wouldn’t call it painless, but it’s absolutely possible to do without any numbing cream.
Immediate results
Many people mentioned this online, so I was prepared for it, but you really do see the lift immediately.
It was impressive.
After the assistant finished the left side of my face, she showed me in the mirror how lifted it was compared to the right side. You could see it very clearly, and it was mind-blowing.
I looked at myself and thought, “Wow, I look like I did about six years ago!”
I knew from the comments that this effect is temporary and usually disappears after about a week.
But right after the treatment, the lift looked very natural and really pretty.

The first week
As many other people said, the immediate lift lasted for around a week.
My skin was not red, it looked very good, and I had no side effects at all.

The first month
The immediate lifting effect disappeared about one week after the treatment, but I still saw a mild improvement.
It became more noticeable towards week 4, which is where I am as I write this article.
I’ll keep updating it as time passes, so you can see how it develops.

The second treatment
I’ve scheduled a second treatment for late November.
I’m pleased with the small improvement I saw after one month, and I know you’re supposed to do two treatments. I want to do this properly, so I can give you a real, well-founded opinion. I’ll update this article again afterwards.
Did XERF keep its promises?
At the beginning of this article, I listed what XERF is supposed to deliver. Here’s how it did for me.
“Painless”: not fully true. You do feel pain sometimes. Overall, I’d rate the procedure about 3-4 out of 10, so it’s still not that bad. Personally, I really appreciate not needing a numbing cream, especially while breastfeeding. I’m still very happy, even though it wasn’t completely painless.
“No downtime”: true. I had no negative side effects right after the treatment, and my skin wasn’t red.
“No fat loss”: true. It’s been a month since the treatment, and I don’t see any fat loss whatsoever.
“Effective”: partly, so far. The immediate lift was amazing but lasted only about a week. After that I saw a mild improvement, most noticeable around week 4. I’ll tell you more after my second treatment.
